Electric scooters have become increasingly popular in India as an eco-friendly mode of transportation. However, according to the Motor Vehicle Act, driving any vehicle on the road requires a driving license. This can pose a problem for those under 18 years of age or those who do not possess a license. Fortunately, there are electric scooters available in the market that do not require a license or registration to operate under current traffic laws.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) has specified that electric scooters with a top speed of 25 km/h do not require a license or registration to operate. This opens up the possibility for underage drivers or those without a license to use electric scooters, without the fear of hefty fines or their children being unable to obtain a license until the age of 25.

Some examples of electric scooters that do not require a license or registration include the Okinawa Lite, Okinawa R30, Gemopai Ryder, Hero Electric Flash LX, and the Ampere Reo Li Plus. These scooters have a top speed of 25 km/h and can travel at least 60 km on a single charge. The Gemopai Ryder even boasts a range of 90-120 km on a single charge with a lithium-ion battery.

It is important to note that electric scooters with a top speed exceeding 25 km/h do require a license and registration to operate. However, for those looking for a convenient and eco-friendly mode of transportation without the need for a license, these electric scooters are a great option.
