Anand Mishra from BJP wins the Buxar Assembly election against Congress’ Sanjay Tiwari after a close contest.
In the recent Buxar Assembly election, Anand Mishra from the BJP has emerged victorious. He faced a strong challenge from Sanjay Tiwari of Congress. After counting votes for 26 rounds, Anand secured his win, making headlines with this achievement.
Anand Mishra is not new to politics; he previously left his job in the police force to pursue a political career. Although he contested as an independent candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and did not win, his reputation in politics led the BJP to nominate him for the Buxar Assembly seat this time.
Born in 1989 in Bhojpur district, Anand has had a remarkable journey. He aimed to become an IPS officer from a young age and achieved this dream after completing his education at Xavier’s College, Kolkata. He served in various administrative roles before finally becoming an IPS officer at just 22 years old.
During his 13 years in the police service, Anand made significant contributions but felt a strong desire to engage in social work. He eventually chose to retire voluntarily from his position as SSP in Lakhimpur in early 2024 to focus entirely on politics.
Meanwhile, another notable candidate, Shivdeep Lande, who also resigned from the Indian Police Service to contest elections, faced defeat in Jamalpur Assembly constituency. While counting was still ongoing at the time of reporting, his loss was confirmed as he ended up in third place.
Summary:
- Anand Mishra wins Buxar Assembly election for BJP.
- Sanjay Tiwari from Congress was his main opponent.
- Anand has a strong background in the police service.
- He retired to focus on full-time politics.
- Shivdeep Lande, another ex-IPS officer, lost in his contest.
