20-year sentence in Poxo Act case
The Araria District Court has sentenced an accused to 20 years in prison while hearing a case under the Poxo Act. The court found evidence of sexual assault on a minor by luring her into marriage in the Tarabadi Thana area of Pairwa Khuri Ward in connection with 4 old cases. In the absence of witnesses, the accused youth Triloki Singh’s father Dev Narayan Singh has been acquitted. The accused has also been fined 50,000 rupees. The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) has been directed to provide the victim with assistance of 5 lakh rupees under the Victim Compensation Scheme.
Special Poxo Act Case Hearing
The incident, which took place two years ago on November 7, 2020, involved the accused Triloki Singh sexually assaulting the victim. Dr. Shyamlal Yadav, Special PP for the government, stated that the sentence was pronounced in Special Poxo Case No. 46/20. The victim’s private lawyer, Pradeep Lal Das, revealed that the victim met the accused Triloki Singh at the Kali Mandir premises in Dhokariya.
Manipulation and Abuse
Following their initial meeting, the accused started visiting the victim’s house frequently, and communication between them continued over the phone. Taking advantage of an opportunity, the accused trapped the victim in a love trap and established a physical relationship. When the victim became pregnant, the accused forced her to undergo an abortion.

Dr. Shyamlal Yadav, along with the victim’s private lawyer Pradeep Lal Das, highlighted the manipulation and abuse suffered by the victim at the hands of the accused Triloki Singh. The court’s decision to sentence the accused to 20 years in prison sends a strong message against crimes under the Poxo Act and ensures that the victim receives the necessary support and compensation under the law.
अररिया व्यवहार न्यायालय ने पॉक्सो एक्ट के एक मामले में आरोपी को 20 साल की सजा सुनाई है। न्यायालय ने आरोपी त्रिलोकी सिंह को नाबालिग को शादी का झांसा देकर यौन शोषण करने की घटना प्रमाणित होने पर सजा सुनाई। आरोपी को 50 हजार का जुर्माना भी लगाया गया है और पीड़िता को विक्टिम कंपनसेसशन स्कीम के तहत-5 लाख रुपए की सहायता राशि उपलब्ध कराने का निर्देश दिया गया है। इस मामले में सरकार की ओर से पॉक्सो एक्ट के स्पेशल पीपी डॉ श्यामलाल यादव ने बताया कि घटना 7 नवंबर 2020 से दो वर्ष पूर्व से चल रही थी।
