Decision on Arrest of Bihar’s Famous IAS Officer Sanjiv Hans in Gangrape Case
Today, a decision will be made on the arrest of the accused in the gangrape case, including the well-known IAS officer from Bihar, Sanjiv Hans. After the allegations made by a woman, Sanjiv Hans had sought relief from the Patna High Court. The High Court had granted immediate relief to Sanjiv Hans, but the hearing was ongoing based on the evidence. The bench of Justice Sandeep Kumar at the Patna High Court had reserved the decision on August 6th.
Case Filed at Rupaspur Thana in Patna High Court
Sanjiv and Gulab Yadav had filed a criminal writ petition in the Patna High Court to dismiss the FIR filed at Rupaspur Thana. The hearing of the writ petition filed by IAS Sanjiv Hans took place in June this year. During the hearing, the victim’s lawyer filed a petition under CRPC 340. Therefore, the court did not pronounce a verdict that day and kept it reserved.
Allegations of Gangrape Against Sanjiv Hans and Gulab Yadav
The victim had accused former MLA Gulab Yadav and IAS Sanjiv Hans of gangrape. The victim alleged that IAS Sanjiv Hans and former MLA Gulab Yadav had collaborated to commit gangrape. A live video of the rape was made to silence the victim, who was repeatedly threatened and blackmailed. The victim also underwent an abortion under threat.
Evidence of Money Laundering Found During Investigation
Despite the confirmation of allegations, Sanjiv Hans remained in his position. However, after evidence of money laundering was found during an ED raid, the government removed him from all positions. The ED conducted a raid at Sanjiv Hans’ Patna residence and found evidence of gangrape and assets acquired through illicit means.
