Former MLA Avadhesh Mandal surrenders in Gopal Yadav murder case
Former MLA Bima Bharti’s husband, notorious Avadhesh Mandal, has surrendered in the Purnia Civil Court in connection with the high-profile Gopal Yadav murder case. He had been absconding since being accused in the case where a conspiracy to commit murder was alleged. Avadhesh Mandal surrendered in the Purnia Civil Court.
Both father and son implicated in the murder conspiracy
Purnia Police have implicated former MLA Bima Bharti’s husband Avadhesh Mandal and son Raja as conspirators in the murder of Gopal Yadav. Both had been on the run since the incident. Prior to their arrest, police had put up notices for their arrest at Bima Bharti’s residence.
Interrogation reveals involvement of both father and son
During the interrogation of four arrested suspects, Vikas Kumar, Brajesh Yadav, Sanjay Bhagat, and Vishal Rai, the names of both father and son came to light. Purnia SP Vikas Kumar and ASP Upendra Nath Verma were present during the interrogation. The complicity of both father and son in the murder came to light during this time.
Political background of Bima Bharti
Bima Bharti, wife of the infamous Avadhesh Mandal, has a political history of contesting elections and facing defeats. She resigned from JDU and contested Lok Sabha elections as a RJD candidate. After facing a resounding defeat, she tried her luck in the Assembly by-election for the sixth time. She faced defeat in this election as well, coming in third in both Lok Sabha and Assembly by-elections.
