Weather-dependent Agriculture in India

In India, agriculture is a form of gambling that is entirely dependent on the weather. If the weather is favorable, the fortunes of farmers rise. However, if the weather is unfavorable, it can lead to losses and push farmers into debt. Climate change poses a significant challenge for agriculture in India, and dealing with it is the biggest challenge for farmers.

Adopting Weather-Responsive Farming in Banka

Farmers in Banka have started practicing weather-responsive farming, understanding the importance of adapting to the weather conditions. One such farmer is Rupesh Kumar Choudhary, who resides in Upama and earns an annual profit of 1 million rupees by cultivating multiple crops and fish farming in his 13-acre field.

Implementing Modern Techniques for Crop Management

Rupesh Kumar Choudhary has also adopted modern techniques like crop management to save time and money. He uses advanced machinery such as zero tillage, happy seeder, laser land leveler, and sprinkler color for farming. These techniques have helped him earn more than 1 million rupees annually from his 13-acre farm, where he grows wheat, chickpeas, mustard, and corn, along with fish farming in two ponds.
