Ashutosh Kumar Singh, a resident of Patwara village in Banka district, has become a successful fish farmer. He invested in building four ponds spread across 15 acres of land and started fish farming. Today, he earns more than 25 lakhs annually from his fish farming business.

Learning from Setbacks

After facing initial losses, Ashutosh took online training and adopted new techniques for fish farming. He now breeds high-profit fish species like Seelan and IMC. Seelan fish can be prepared for sale within 7-8 months, while IMC fish takes around 13 months. Seelan fish sells for 110 rupees per kilogram, while IMC fish sells for 250 rupees per kilogram.

Tips for Successful Fish Farming

To ensure the health and growth of the fish, farmers should use lime at a rate of 15 kilograms per acre every 15 days. Additionally, potassium permanganate or water sanitizers should be used to prevent infections. Regular supplementation of salt in the fish feed helps prevent diseases. Following these tips can lead to a successful fish farming venture like Ashutosh Kumar’s.
