Benefit for Filaria Patients

Filaria, also known as ‘elephant foot disease’, affects many individuals in rural areas. This disease can lead to permanent disability. However, there is good news for those suffering from elephantiasis. The Health Department will now provide disability certificates to these patients, allowing them to access government schemes and benefits.

Disability Certificate for Filaria Patients

In Begusarai district alone, around 4925 patients have been identified with filaria. These patients will now receive disability certificates, enabling them to avail government assistance and support. Previously, many patients did not receive timely medication or financial aid, despite promises made on government posters. A team has been set up in the district hospital to assist these patients, although officials have been reluctant to provide information.

Application Process for Disability Certificate

The Chief Administrative Officer of Begusarai District Hospital, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, has announced that filaria patients with elephantiasis will now receive disability certificates. Patients can apply for these certificates online or through nearby healthcare facilities. This initiative aims to provide assistance, including medication, to those suffering from filaria and other related disabilities.
