A major security scare disrupted work at Bhagalpur Civil Court in Bihar on Monday morning. Authorities received a threatening email claiming that bombs had been planted within the court premises. This led to an immediate evacuation of judges, lawyers, and the public to ensure everyone’s safety. After an extensive search operation lasting several hours, police officials declared the threat a hoax as no explosives were found.

What was written in the threat email?

The email was sent to the official ID of the Principal District and Sessions Judge at around 8:04 AM on Monday. The sender identified himself as Aman Kumar and claimed to be an inspector from a new CBI-SIB branch. The message warned that four RDX bombs were hidden in the court building, the judge’s chamber, and the washrooms.

The sender also listed specific demands and grievances. These included a call for the implementation of the 1979 Police Commission report and allegations regarding the mistreatment of police constables in Tamil Nadu. The Cyber Cell is currently tracing the IP address of the sender, suspecting the email originated from outside the state.

How did the police handle the situation?

Senior police officials, including the SSP and City DSP, immediately arrived at the scene to monitor the situation. The anti-sabotage squad and dog squad were called in to check every corner of the court complex. The teams also checked all vehicles parked inside the premises.
