Now those who commit crimes in trains are not well. Even liquor smugglers will not be able to escape. The journey of the passengers will also be more auspicious than before.

CCTV cameras with GPS will be installed in all passenger trains including MEMU, DEMU of Barharwa-Bhagalpur-Kiul railway section for crime control and safe operation of trains.

This will curb the smuggling of arms, liquor and other drugs to a great extent. It will also prove helpful in identifying criminals.

CCTV cameras with GPS installed in these trains

GPS enabled CCTV cameras have been installed in trains running between Barrackpore and Lalgola stations bordering Bangladesh. Now CCTV cameras will be installed in every bogie, engine driver, CAG and guard bogie of the trains of Badharwa-Sahibganj-Bhagalpur-Kiul railway section.

There will be a provision of four CCTV cameras in each bogie and one CCTV camera each in the driver’s cab and guard bogie located in the engine. Emergency buttons in the guard bogies and arrangements for chain and chain pulling for passengers in standing trains will also be there, just like in EMUs.

What did the railway police say?

Railway Police says that from the point of view of security, the activities of passengers will also be captured in CCTV cameras. It will also prove helpful in stopping smuggling of liquor, weapons and in identifying those who carry out any kind of criminal incident.

Passengers maintain silence when liquor and weapons are recovered from the train. Smugglers easily will be recognized from CCTV camera. Monitoring of CCTV camera with GPS will be done by the driver.

In case of emergency, information about the situation can be obtained by contacting the driver by pressing the button. It was told that in other matters including the number of passengers, business and revenue Bhagalpur is an important station of Eastern Railway.

There is a rail factory in Jamalpur. For these reasons, there is a plan to install GPS-enabled CCTV cameras in passenger trains running on the Sahibganj-Bhagalpur-Jamalpur-Kiul route.
