  • A second death has occurred in Bhagalpur due to the rapidly spreading dengue.
  • A four-year-old girl, daughter of Chandan Kumar Yadav, died of dengue on Wednesday.
  • The girl had tested positive for dengue for five days and her health suddenly deteriorated on Tuesday night.
  • Despite efforts by doctors, the girl could not be saved and passed away around three in the morning.

First Death Due to Dengue in the District on August 16, 2023

  • In the same area of Tilkamanjhi, a 34-year-old youth named Santosh Kumar died of dengue on August 16, 2023.
  • Santosh’s decrease in platelets was detected through a CBC test, causing concern for his family.
  • He was admitted to a private clinic and later referred to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital, where he passed away during treatment.

Bed Shortage in Hospital

  • The dengue ward at Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College Hospital has 41 beds but is currently full.
  • A 17-bed HDU ward has been set up for serious patients.
  • Patients who have not been able to find a bed have been accommodated on the floor in the emergency ward.

One Hundred Bed Ward Started

  • A separate dengue ward with 100 beds has been started in JLNMCH on the orders of DM Subrata Sen.
  • However, not all facilities are currently available in this ward, causing inconvenience to patients.
  • Patient admissions have started in the new ward since morning.
