From Running a Tea Stall to Farming
Dheeraj Kumar, a resident of Sahugadh in Madhepura district, used to run a tea and breakfast stall near the Saharsa court. However, due to road widening, his shop was destroyed. Afterward, he started farming. One day, he visited the agricultural office in Madhepura for some work. Upon learning about Bharat’s predicament, the then agricultural officer Rajan Balan immediately suggested that he set up a Litti stall in front of the agricultural department. He also provided some money. This assistance from the officer changed Bharat’s life. From being dependent on every single rupee, Bharat now earns more than two thousand rupees every day. All the staff members of nearby offices also enjoy Bharat’s Litti.
Assistance from the Agricultural Officer
Bharat revealed that he had been running the breakfast stall for a long time, but it was destroyed due to road widening in Saharsa. After that, he started farming. However, he couldn’t make a profit as he didn’t own any land. When he contacted the former district agricultural officer in Madhepura, he received significant support. He was given 2000 rupees to open a shop. Now, Bharat earns more than two thousand rupees every day. He says that Rajan Balan is no less than a god for him. Not only that, he instructed his office staff to eat only Bharat’s Litti.
Specialty of Bharat’s Litti
Bharat’s Litti is unique because it is made without using refined flour. He mentioned that people prefer Litti made from whole wheat flour. They prepare Litti with pure gram flour along with wheat flour. Staff members from nearby offices come here and enjoy Litti from morning till evening. Bharat sells a plate of Litti for 10 rupees. He also provides chola or potato curry and raw onions to accompany the Litti. According to Bharat, he now earns an income of 2 to 3 thousand rupees every day, which has brought happiness to his family.
धीरज कुमार/मधेपुरा जिले के रहने वाले भरत साह पहले सहरसा कचहरी के समीप चाय-नाश्ते की दुकान चलाते थे। लेकिन सड़क चौड़ीकरण के कारण उनकी दुकान टूट गई। इसके बाद वे खेती करने लगे, लेकिन मुनाफा कम था। एक दिन वे मधेपुरा स्थित कृषि कार्यालय गए और वहां तत्कालीन कृषि पदाधिकारी राजन बालन ने उन्हें लिट्टी का स्टॉल लगाने के लिए बोला, जिसके साथ ही उन्होंने कुछ रुपए भी दिए। अब वे हर दिन दो हजार से ज्यादा कमाते हैं और लिट्टी को सभी ऑफिस के स्टाफ खाते हैं। भरत की लिट्टी बिना मैदा के बनती है और आसपास के लोग इसे पसंद करते हैं। वे दिनभर लिट्टी बेचते हैं और उसके साथ छोला और सब्जी खिलाते हैं। इससे उनकी आमदनी बढ़ गई है और उनका परिवार खुशहाली से चल रहा है।
