Which Stations Got the Junction Status?

A total of six stations under the Samastipur Division will now carry the Junction suffix in their official names. The railway administration clarified that the alphabetical and numerical codes for these stations will remain completely unchanged. The final commercial notification has already been circulated to all station masters to ensure compliance.

  • Hasanpur Road: Now Hasanpur Road Junction
  • Sitamarhi: Now Sitamarhi Junction
  • Saraigarh: Now Saraigarh Junction
  • Supaul: Now Supaul Junction
  • Kakarghatti: Now Kakarghatti Junction
  • Shisho: Now Shisho Junction

What Will Change for Passengers?

The addition of the Junction suffix officially signifies that these stations serve as a confluence of more than one railway route. All railway departments have received instructions to update ticketing systems, operational modules, and commercial records to reflect the new names immediately. This change helps passengers and railway staff clearly identify major travel hubs and simplifies journey planning.

Formalizing this status strengthens the identity of these stations within the National Railway Network. This upgrade also paves the way for potential future expansion in passenger amenities, freight handling capacity, and increased train connectivity in these regions. The digital uniformity ensures that long-distance travelers see consistent naming across all digital platforms and physical signboards.
