What’s inside:

This article talks about the closure of schools in Bihar due to extreme cold weather and fog, prioritizing children’s health.

The weather in Bihar has taken a serious turn with cold temperatures and heavy fog making life tough for everyone. Keeping children’s health in mind, the Patna district administration has decided to shut down schools for younger kids. This decision shows that the safety of the people is the government’s top concern right now.

The District Magistrate, Dr. Thyagarajan S.M., has used special powers to close all government and private schools for children up to class 8. This order also applies to pre-schools and Anganwadi centers, effective from January 4 to January 8, 2026. The authorities believe that young children are more vulnerable to the cold and taking risks with their health is not an option.

For students in class 9 and above, schools will remain open but with adjusted timings from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Schools are instructed to revise their schedules accordingly. However, special classes for board and pre-board exams will continue as planned so that students do not miss out on their preparations.

The weather conditions support this decision, with temperatures dropping below 10 degrees Celsius in many places. In Patna, the visibility has fallen significantly, making travel dangerous. Many districts are under a dense fog warning, indicating that the harsh weather is not going away soon.

This decision clearly shows that the government prioritizes the health and safety of children over any political issues. As the cold weather persists, the administration is committed to ensuring that children are not exposed to unnecessary risks in these tough conditions.

Summary:

  • Schools for children up to class 8 are closed in Bihar due to cold.

  • The closure is from January 4 to January 8, 2026.

  • Students in class 9 and above have modified timings.

  • Weather conditions support the decision with low temperatures and fog.

  • The government is focused on children’s health and safety.
