Monsoon is returning to Bihar, but it may cause heavy rainfall and lightning in many areas, leading to safety concerns.
Bihar is experiencing the return of the monsoon, but this time it might bring more challenges than relief. The weather department has warned that heavy rains are expected in many districts, along with increased chances of lightning. So far, this monsoon season has already seen 227 lives lost due to thunderstorms.
A yellow alert has been issued for 24 districts, including Patna, Kishanganj, and Sheikhpura. Heavy rainfall is predicted from September 8 to 10, particularly in the northwest, northeast, and southwest parts of Bihar. Recently, Patna and surrounding areas received significant rainfall on Sunday evening, and places like Supaul and Bettiah also experienced intermittent showers.
According to the weather center in Patna, it looks like rain will continue for about seven days starting from September 9. During this period, many districts may face heavy rainfall and strong winds reaching speeds of 40 km/h. Residents are advised to stay cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during this time.
Heavy rains are expected to last until September 13, covering the entire state. The northern districts will feel the most impact, leading to cooler temperatures and some relief from humidity. However, the risk of waterlogging could create problems for many people, especially since Sheikhpura reported the highest temperature at 36.2 degrees recently.
The change in weather is primarily due to weather systems forming in the Bay of Bengal, leading to increased moisture in Bihar. This shift has caused monsoon clouds to gather, resulting in intensified rainfall activities. The weather department indicates that widespread rainfall could disrupt normal life in the state.
