Bihar Cabinet Decision on Ayushman Bharat Yojana

The Bihar Cabinet, under the leadership of returning CM Nitish Kumar, has made a significant decision for those who were not covered under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. The cabinet has decided to provide free healthcare of up to five lakh rupees annually to all ration cardholders in the state under the Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).

Reaction to the Decision

Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi immediately hailed the decision as a major move by the NDA government in Bihar. He stated that this decision will now cover around 58 lakh people in the state who are beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act. The decision expands the coverage of AB-PMJAY to approximately two crore people in the state.

Impact of the Health Insurance Scheme

With this decision, the Bihar government will provide health insurance of up to five lakh rupees to nearly 58 lakh families who were left out of the central government’s scheme. This decision holds great importance for the poor individuals who have a ration card but were not covered under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. This move will bring much-needed relief to those struggling to afford healthcare.
