BJP leader Sonu Kumar, who was the Mandal President of Bettiah Rural of BJP Scheduled Tribe Morcha, was brutally attacked and killed in West Champaran. The incident occurred at around 6 am on Monday when Sonu Kumar and his friend Sujit Kumar were returning from their morning walk. The attackers slit Sonu Kumar’s throat and stabbed Sujit Kumar, who sustained injuries on his back and right hand. Sujit Kumar is currently receiving treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital. The police have conducted the post-mortem and are in the process of registering an FIR based on the complaint filed by the deceased’s brother. The motive behind the attack is still unclear, but it is suspected to be related to the rivalry in the municipal elections.

Injured Sujit Kumar provided a statement about the incident, stating that he and Sonu were contesting the election for ward councilors. They were returning home after their walk when three masked criminals stopped them. The attackers specifically targeted Sonu, slashing his throat and stabbing him multiple times. Sujit managed to escape and informed his brother about the incident. Sonu’s body was found on the road with multiple stab wounds, and the police were notified. BJP leaders have expressed their anger and demanded concrete action from the authorities. The Deputy Mayor representative of the Municipal Corporation and the BJP Gramin Mandal President have also condemned the incident and warned of launching a protest if the criminals are not apprehended soon.
