Issue of Cyber Fraud in Rural Areas
Cyber fraud continues to be a problem in rural areas, with laborers becoming the latest victims. In a recent case, a cyber thug opened an Axis Bank account through a CSP (Customer Service Point) and deposited fraudulent money into the account, which was later withdrawn.
Complaint Filed with Bank and Police
Once the matter came to light, the victims filed a complaint with both the bank and the police. Subodh Rajak, Karan Kumar Mirdha, Rahul Kumar Mirdha, Surendra Mirdha, Vinod Sah, and others revealed that Saddam Khan, the son of Abdul Imam Khan alias Mister of Gudiya Mod, had opened their accounts through a CSP.
Fraudulent Scheme Promising Loans
The victims were enticed with the promise of receiving a loan of Rs 50,000 each through the government’s Mahadalit scheme after opening an account. Some were also made to open accounts with the false promise of receiving MNREGA wages.
When suspicions arose, the victims visited the Axis Bank branch and discovered that money was continuously being deposited into their accounts and subsequently withdrawn from ATMs. As a result, the police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
