This article talks about the severe cold and fog in Bihar, affecting daily life and visibility.
Cold weather has hit Bihar hard due to strong westerly winds and moisture. Purnia district has been facing a ‘Severe Cold Day’, causing problems for many people. Other districts like Bhagalpur, Gaya, and Madhubani are also experiencing cold days, making it tough for daily activities.
The Meteorological Department has reported that the maximum temperatures in Bihar are between 16.2°C to 20.3°C. Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures have dropped by 2-3°C. The situation has made the mornings especially chilly across the state.
Fog is making travel difficult as visibility has fallen to just 20 meters in Gaya and Bhagalpur. Vehicles are moving very slowly on the roads. The weather department predicts that this thick fog will continue for the next 4-5 days, particularly affecting North and South-East Bihar during the mornings.
Agwanpur in Saharsa has recorded the lowest temperature at 6.7°C, while Jiradei in Siwan was the warmest place at 20.3°C. The department has warned that there won’t be much change in temperatures over the next few days. This means cold and foggy conditions will persist.
Looking ahead, the department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for many districts from December 25 to 28. Dense fog is expected on December 29 and 30, but some relief is anticipated in southern Bihar from December 31 to January 1. However, the cold wave will likely continue until January 1, 2026.
