Bihar Government Intensifies Encroachment Removal Efforts Amid Opposition Concerns, Focuses on Fairness and Alternative Arrangements

In Bihar, the government is continuing its bulldozer actions to remove encroachments. This campaign started when Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary took charge of the Home Department. The government is focusing on clearing encroachments from various districts across the state.

The opposition parties are criticizing the government’s actions, particularly targeting Samrat Chaudhary, who is being called “Bulldozer Baba.” Meanwhile, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has also voiced his concerns, stating that while action against encroachment is necessary, it should not affect the poor. He emphasized that the government should first target those who have illegally occupied government land.

Manjhi pointed out that while it is correct to remove encroachments with prior notice, the Supreme Court has advised that alternative arrangements should be made for those displaced. He expressed concern that the current actions are mainly affecting small businesses along the roads rather than larger illegal structures.

He further highlighted that many big malls and buildings have been built on government land, and the government should start by taking action against those major encroachers first. Manjhi believes that if the government addresses these larger issues, there will be less resistance from the public regarding smaller encroachments.

Manjhi also criticized Tejashwi Yadav for not attending a recent Legislative Assembly session, suggesting that his absence was due to embarrassment. He stressed that Tejashwi should fulfill his responsibilities as a public representative by being present in the House.
