Strict Legal Actions and License Cancellations

The Agriculture Department has taken aggressive steps during the 2025-26 financial year to curb illegal practices. As of March 28, 2026, authorities cancelled the licenses of 454 fertilizer establishments and registered 116 FIRs for various irregularities. Special flying squads have been formed at the headquarters level to conduct raids based on farmer complaints. It is now mandatory for retailers to verify that their physical stock matches the data recorded in the Point of Sale machines.

New Monitoring Systems and Current Stock Status

The government has introduced the Bihar Krishi Mobile App, allowing farmers to check real-time fertilizer stock at nearby shops. To prevent smuggling across international borders, special teams are now working in coordination with the Sashastra Seema Bal. Additionally, the Dharti Mata Bachao Vigilance Committee has been formed at the district level to promote balanced fertilizer use and organic farming. The minister confirmed that there is no shortage of supplies in any district.
