This article discusses the evolving political landscape in Bihar, highlighting the formation of a grand alliance ahead of the 2025 assembly elections.

Bihar’s political scene is heating up as new alliances are forming ahead of the assembly elections in 2025. The opposition’s grand alliance is growing and now has eight parties, making it a strong contender against the NDA, which includes BJP, JDU, and others.

The grand alliance consists of prominent players like RJD, Congress, and various leftist parties. Recently, they welcomed support from Mukesh Sahni’s VIP and Pashupati Paras’s RLJP. There’s also talk of the Indian Inquilab Party joining, which could further strengthen their position.

This time, the grand alliance is keen to avoid past mistakes. In 2020, they lost by just 11,000 votes, so they are sharing seats more strategically. They plan to include new partners to appeal to different voter bases, while still keeping the RJD and Congress in the mix.

Last elections, Congress only managed to win 19 out of 70 seats. This time, they are not pushing for many seats but want to ensure they win the seats they get. Meanwhile, CPI (ML) and Mukesh Sahni’s party are demanding more seats and higher positions in the alliance.

As the NDA ramps up its campaigns, promising development and progress, the grand alliance faces the challenge of managing its internal dynamics. The real test will come during the elections, where the competition will be between the number of seats and the promises of development.

Summary:

  • Bihar’s political alliances are changing with new formations ahead of 2025 elections.

  • The grand alliance now includes eight parties, challenging the NDA’s strength.

  • Strategies are in place to avoid past election mistakes and maximize votes.

  • Seat-sharing is a key issue as parties negotiate their demands.

  • The upcoming elections will test the effectiveness of these political strategies.
