What’s inside:
This article discusses the introduction of ‘Jeevika Didi Ki Rasoi’ in Bihar’s bus depots, aimed at providing affordable and nutritious meals while supporting rural women’s employment.
In Bihar, bus depots are getting a new look. Soon, they will not just be places to catch a bus but also spots where travelers can enjoy affordable and healthy food. The initiative called ‘Jeevika Didi Ki Rasoi’ will be launched in 19 major bus depots across the state.
The Transport Minister, Shravan Kumar, recently visited some bus depots and found them disorganized with poor food options. He emphasized that passengers and drivers deserve better facilities, which led to the decision to start ‘Didi Ki Rasoi’ in these depots.
With this new setup, travelers will get clean and nutritious meals at reasonable prices. Drivers and conductors will also have decent food options, improving the overall experience at the bus depots. The first phase will include depots in cities like Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Gaya.
This scheme is part of the Rural Development Department’s Livelihood Scheme, aiming to empower women associated with self-help groups. These women, known as Jeevika Didis, will manage the kitchens and earn a steady income while providing quality meals.
The ‘Didi Ki Rasoi’ model has already been successful in hospitals and other public places. Now, it is being introduced in bus depots to enhance passenger comfort and support rural women’s livelihoods, making these depots more welcoming and reliable.
