Bihar government announces special buses for migrant workers returning home for Holi.
The Bihar government has decided to help migrant workers returning home for Holi. From February 15 to March 15, the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) will run around 200 special buses. This is a great option for people coming from places like Delhi, Punjab, and Bengal to travel safely and comfortably.
These buses will be operated in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode. The Transport Department is finalizing the routes and fares. The special buses will mainly cover major areas in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Jharkhand. This initiative is aimed at helping laborers and students who are heading back to Bihar for the festival.
Passengers can choose between AC and non-AC deluxe classes for their journey. Each bus will have 50 to 60 seats available. The government will also offer special discounts on these festival buses. To make things easier, clean toilets for men and women will be available at the selected bus stops.
Booking tickets will be simple through the Yatri Ghar Sita website, which is bsrtc.bihar.gov.in. Passengers can pay using UPI, debit cards, credit cards, or net banking. The Transport Minister mentioned this initiative aims to reduce the crowd in trains during the festival season, ensuring a hassle-free travel experience.
Last year, a similar program was very successful, with 220 interstate buses running from September 20, 2025, and helping around 2.5 lakh passengers. With an average of 107 buses operating daily, 81% of the seats were filled, showing how much this service is needed.
