This article talks about the new train services started in Bihar to help passengers during festivals and the political implications behind it.

Bihar has always faced challenges with transportation, especially during festivals like Diwali and Holi. It’s tough for people to get confirmed train tickets, and many have to settle for waiting lists. To address this, the Railway Ministry has announced new train services as a relief for the people of Bihar, though there are also political motives involved.

On September 29, the Union Railway Minister and Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister launched seven new trains from Patna Junction. Among these, three are Amrit Bharat Express trains, which are crucial for middle-class travelers. Additionally, many Vande Bharat trains have also started operating in Bihar, enhancing connectivity.

This year, to cater to the increased travel demand during festivals like Chhath and Diwali, there will be 12,000 more rail services. This raises questions about whether this is a genuine effort to improve transport or a political strategy ahead of the Bihar assembly elections.

Bihar has seen an increase in Amrit Bharat Express services, with 13 out of 15 trains now serving the state. New routes include Muzaffarpur to Hyderabad and Darbhanga to Ajmer. There are also adjustments for local passenger trains to improve access in rural areas, making travel easier for daily commuters.

The new train services are expected to improve public transport significantly, benefiting the economy and enhancing travel convenience. As elections approach, these developments may also play a role in influencing voter sentiment in Bihar.

  • Seven new trains have been launched from Patna Junction.
