The Bihar Motor Vehicle Accident Claim Tribunal was established in the Bhagalpur region on January 2, 2024 by the state government to ensure that the families of those who have died or been seriously injured in motor vehicle accidents do not have to wander from place to place and receive compensation in a timely manner. The tribunal is headed by Chairman Vijay Kumar and Secretary Amit Kumar, who preside over the hearings related to accident cases, with members of the affected parties present during the proceedings. Over the course of six months, the tribunal has completed hearings on 250 cases from the Bhagalpur and Munger regions.

During the six months since its inception, the Bhagalpur Motor Vehicle Accident Claim Tribunal has received 250 cases from the Bhagalpur and Munger regions, with hearings currently underway for these cases. Two cases have already been decided by the tribunal, with the families of the deceased being awarded compensation of five lakh rupees each. One family is from Banka and the other is from Bihpur in Bhagalpur. The regions covered by the tribunal include Bhagalpur, Banka, Khagaria, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Munger, Sheikhpura, and Jamui.
