More than 1 Lakh Students’ Names Deleted from Government Schools in Bihar

Patna. In the last few days, names of more than 1 lakh students have been deleted from government schools in Bihar. This step has been taken in order to eliminate the tradition of enrollment duplication due to students being enrolled at more than one place. According to the report received from the district, maximum names have been deleted in West Champaran and Araria districts. Names of about 10-10 thousand children have been deleted in these districts.

Names Deleted in Patna

Whereas in Patna, names of 7 thousand students have been deleted out of which 4000 students come from schools in rural areas. According to the information received from the report, the names of more children have been cut in primary schools than in secondary and higher secondary schools, the maximum of which is 14875 and 14299 are students of fourth class. Actually, the purpose of such nomination is to prevent unfair advantage of the scheme, the students whose names have been deleted are simultaneously enrolled in government and private schools.

Education Department’s Directive

The Education Department has directed the districts to take notice of children not coming to school for three consecutive days, talk to their parents and ask the children to come to school. Even after this, if they do not come to school for 15 days, then the enrollment of such children should be canceled. According to the report received from the Education Department, till September 13, names of 1 lakh 1 thousand 86 children have been struck off. However, the names of three to four districts are not included in this figure. In this way, overall this figure may increase further. These are all such children whose names have been deleted in the month of September itself.

Preventing Enrollment Duplication

Additional Chief Secretary of the department, KK Pathak, had issued instructions to the District Magistrates on September 2 and said that the enrollment of the student should be canceled if he is absent from school for 15 days. If a student is not present for three consecutive days, a notice should be issued to him by the Principal. Regarding this, the district authorities were instructed to ensure action through the concerned District Education Officer. It was also said that the student should be tracked and information should be obtained whether he has been enrolled in two schools simultaneously.

Re-enrollment Process

Such students do not remain absent for 15 consecutive days due to fear of being removed from government schools and keep registering their attendance from time to time. Such students keep going to a private school regularly. But to get funds from government schemes, they are also enrolled in government schools. If the children whose name has been struck off from the school want to study again, then in such a situation a provision has been made to take an affidavit from the parent. Parents will give in writing that their child will come to school regularly, after which the child will be re-enrolled.
