The nursing education sector in Bihar is moving towards total transparency with the launch of a new digital platform. Health Minister Mangal Pandey officially inaugurated this high-tech portal in Patna on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. This initiative is designed to simplify recognition procedures and ensure higher quality standards across the state.

New Rules for Nursing Colleges and Recognition

Under the new system, all applications for starting new nursing colleges or increasing existing seats will be handled exclusively online. This digital shift aims to remove bureaucratic hurdles and increase accountability within the health department. Key features include:

  • Mandatory online submission of affidavits and hospital-related documents.
  • Digital issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOC) and recognition papers.
  • A centralized database of all 656 registered nursing colleges in Bihar.
  • Direct monitoring by the Bihar Health Science University, Patna.

Impact on Students and Fee Structure

This portal will help students identify fake institutions and choose genuine colleges with ease. With 41,065 sanctioned seats currently available, the government ensures that quality will not be compromised. The standard fee structure for various courses remains as follows:

Course Name Tuition Fee (Annual) Development Fee (Annual)
ANM Course Rs 35,000 Rs 5,000
GNM Course Rs 5,000 Rs 10,000
BSc Nursing Rs 60,000 Rs 15,000

Health Minister Mangal Pandey stated that this digital transformation will prove to be a revolution for the healthcare sector. On the first day of the launch, five nursing institutions were granted online NOC approvals and certificates directly through the platform. This move will help students from Bihar establish themselves at national and international levels.
