Patna Police has uncovered a major fraud syndicate targeting the ongoing Bihar Police Constable Recruitment. The incident took place at the Gardanibagh Government High School center on February 5, 2026, during the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Acting on a tip-off, the police team reached the spot and arrested three brokers and two candidates involved in the scam. The gang was reportedly charging huge sums of money to help candidates pass the exams through illegal means.
How did the gang operate?
The investigation led by Dr. Anu Kumari, SDPO Secretariat-1, revealed that the gang charged up to ₹10 Lakh for a complete selection package. This included passing both the written and physical exams.
The brokers used “solvers” or dummy candidates to sit for the written examination in place of the actual applicants. For the physical test, they created forged fingerprints to bypass the mandatory biometric attendance system. Police found photos of walkie-talkies and digital admit cards on the seized mobile phones, which were used to coordinate the cheating process.
Who are the people arrested?
Police have arrested three main brokers identified as Sanjeev Kumar from Khagaria, Rahul Singh from Bhojpur, and Santosh Kumar from Patna. These individuals were caught while trying to flee from the test venue.
Along with them, two candidates named Aman and Surajbhan were also detained. These candidates were caught because their fingerprints did not match during verification. It was found that they had hired other people to write their written exams, which led to the mismatch during the physical test verification.
What action is being taken now?
The police have seized mobile phones containing photos of 45 admit cards and various transaction details. A formal FIR has been registered, and the police are now conducting raids to arrest other members of this inter-district gang.
All 45 candidates whose admit cards were found on the suspects’ phones are now under active investigation. The authorities have stated that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in this recruitment fraud.
