The newly formed Cyber Crime and Security Unit of Bihar has executed a major operation in Madhubani district. Acting on specific technical intelligence from Patna, a special team was formed to track down an illegal SIM box network. On February 4, 2026, this team, along with the Department of Telecom (DoT) and local cyber police, conducted a raid and successfully arrested four individuals.

How was this International Gang Operating?
Police investigation revealed that the accused were running an organized racket to facilitate cyber fraud across the country. They used illegal SIM box setups to convert international voice calls into local Indian mobile calls. This method is often used to hide the actual origin of the call.
The gang was involved in various types of scams including digital arrest, investment fraud, and phishing. The probe has also highlighted connections to agents based in China and Nepal, making this a cross-border crime syndicate.
What Items did the Police Recover?
During the search operation, officials seized a large amount of electronic equipment used to run the illegal exchange. The police have registered a case at the Madhubani Cyber Police Station under case number 43/26.
