The Government of Bihar has issued a strict reminder notice regarding the Bihar Student Credit Card Yojana (BSCC) for the upcoming 2026-27 academic session. The Department of Education has mandated that all private higher education institutions must secure valid accreditation to remain eligible for the scheme benefits.

What are the new Mandatory Requirements?
According to the official notice, private institutions inside and outside Bihar must possess one of the following by February 2026:
- NAAC Grading (National Assessment and Accreditation Council)
- NIRF Ranking (National Institutional Ranking Framework)
- NBA Accreditation (National Board of Accreditation)
Additionally, having a valid AISHE Code is compulsory. Institutions that do not currently hold these accreditations must apply and update their status on the departmental portal before the deadline.
Consequences for Non-Compliance
The government has made it clear that institutions failing to meet these criteria by February 2026 will be declared ineligible. This means they will not receive any funds under the Student Credit Card Scheme for the 2026-27 session.
Students seeking admission to such non-compliant colleges will not be able to avail the education loan benefits of up to ₹4.00 Lakhs. This move follows the recent decision to make the loan interest-free (0%) for all categories, prompting stricter quality control checks.
