The Bihar government has officially announced the next phase of teacher recruitment to fill vacant posts in state schools. Education Minister Sunil Kumar made a formal declaration in the Bihar Vidhan Sabha on February 10, 2026, regarding the commencement of the TRE-4 process. The department has confirmed that over 30,000 vacancies will be filled immediately in this phase.

Which subjects are getting priority?

The Education Department has identified an acute shortage of teachers in specific science streams. Consequently, the government has decided to prioritize filling vacancies in Physics and Mathematics for High School and Higher Secondary levels. This immediate focus aims to ensure that core academic sessions are not hampered.

Candidates waiting for Sports and Music teacher roles will have to wait a little longer. The Minister clarified that recruitment for these specialized positions has been deferred. The government plans to consider these posts in a secondary phase once the core subject vacancies are addressed.

Timeline and Eligibility Rules

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will conduct the written competitive examination for these posts. There will be no interview process, and selection is based strictly on exam merit. Candidates must have cleared CTET or STET to apply.
