What’s inside:
Bihar government will no longer spend money on constructing railway overbridges (ROBs) and underbridges (RUBs) as the central government will bear the entire cost.
The Bihar government has announced that it will not have to spend any money on building railway overbridges (ROBs) and underbridges (RUBs). This change comes as the Railway Ministry has agreed to take full responsibility for the costs involved in these constructions.
Recently, the Railway Board approved the Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for 37 ROBs. In addition, 115 more DPRs for ROBs and RUBs have been sent to the board and are currently in the approval process. This means that the construction of these bridges will soon be underway.
For the people of Bihar, this is great news as it means fewer disruptions at railway crossings. The state plans to build a total of 217 ROBs and RUBs on major roads, ensuring smoother travel for everyone. This initiative will help in reducing traffic delays and improve safety.
Previously, the state government had to share the financial burden for these constructions. However, now, thanks to this new arrangement, all expenses will be covered by the central government. The initial agreement between the state and the railway was made back in May 2019.
Next steps include the completion of ongoing tender processes and the actual construction of the bridges. Already, out of the 44 ROBs planned under the initial agreement, 41 tenders have been finalized, and work is progressing rapidly. This is a positive development for transportation in Bihar.
Summary:
- Bihar government will no longer fund ROBs and RUBs.
- Railway Board approved DPR for 37 ROBs.
- Construction of 217 bridges planned to ease traffic.
- Central government will cover all costs.
- 41 out of 44 planned ROBs are moving forward with tenders.
