This article shares news about the construction of 217 railway overbridges and underbridges in Bihar to ease traffic at railway crossings.

Bihar is set to improve travel for its residents as the government plans to build 217 railway overbridges (ROBs) and railway under bridges (RUBs) at busy railway crossings. The Road Construction Department has started this project now that the Railway Ministry has approved the construction of these bridges.

This initiative began with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in May 2019, where it was agreed to construct 44 ROBs. Out of these, 41 tenders have already been processed, and work has been assigned for 38 of them. The state government is collaborating with the Railway Ministry for these developments.

These new ROBs and RUBs will be built at various locations across Bihar, including major roads like Manjholia-Bettiah and Sugauli-Manjholia. The aim is to reduce traffic jams and enhance safety for both road and rail users. The best part is that the entire cost will be covered by the Central Government, relieving the state from financial burdens.

The Railway Board has already approved detailed project reports for several of these bridges. As of now, approvals for 37 ROBs have been granted, and DPRs for another 115 are under review. This is a significant step in improving the infrastructure in Bihar.

Construction work for these bridges is expected to start soon, providing a much-needed solution to the frequent traffic issues at railway crossings. The project aims to make travel safer and more efficient for everyone in the state.

Summary:

  • Bihar will build 217 new railway overbridges and underbridges.

  • The Railway Ministry has approved this construction project.

  • Funding for the project will come entirely from the Central Government.

  • Construction locations include major roads across various districts.

  • Work is expected to begin soon to reduce traffic issues at railway crossings.
