The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a significant weather alert for Bihar. A new western disturbance is affecting the region, bringing chances of rain and thunderstorms to several districts. Residents in northern Bihar have been advised to stay cautious as weather conditions may deteriorate over the next 24 hours.

Districts Likely to Face Storms
According to the latest forecast, 15 districts are on alert for rain and gusty winds. The wind speed is expected to reach 30-40 kmph, occasionally gusting up to 50 kmph. The affected areas primarily include:
- West Champaran and East Champaran
- Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga
- Gopalganj, Sitamarhi, and Sheohar
Temperature Drop and Fog Warning
Following the wind and rain, the temperature is set to drop significantly. The IMD predicts a decrease of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures across the region within the next 48 hours. Samastipur recently recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 6.8 degrees Celsius.
While northern districts face storms, Patna is expected to remain largely dry with partial cloud cover. However, dense fog alerts have been issued for isolated pockets in Bihar from January 29 to 31, which may impact visibility during morning hours.
