This article discusses the current status of the Danapur-Bihta elevated road project in Bihar, highlighting delays due to land acquisition issues.

The construction of the Danapur-Bihta elevated road in Bihar is facing delays. While the government is promoting development with new road projects, this particular project is stuck due to slow processes and land acquisition challenges. The main problem is that the necessary land is not cleared for construction.

Specific areas like Mahadev Phuladi and Patsa Mauza are causing major hold-ups. In Mahadev Phuladi, the work is held back because structures on the land have not been removed. Additionally, there is no proper arrangement for diverting traffic, which is slowing things down. Originally, the project was expected to be done by September 2026, but now it looks like it will take until March 2027.

For the people affected, the situation is frustrating. In Mahadev Phuladi, only seven farmers have received compensation, while just two farmers in Patsa Mauza have been paid. The delay in compensation has made the land acquisition process come to a halt. Some farmers are even asking for more money, which has created tension with the authorities.

So far, about 40 percent of the construction work towards Danapur is finished, but progress towards Bihta is not as good. A total of 104 acres of land has been acquired, and around Rs 191 crore has been paid to 1,002 farmers. However, delays in paperwork and verification are causing issues with payments.

In December, officials from the Road Construction Department inspected the project and urged the construction agency to finish on time. Despite assurances from the agency, the ongoing problems with land and compensation are holding back this important development.

Summary:

  • Danapur-Bihta elevated road project faces delays.

  • Land acquisition issues are the main cause of the holdup.

  • Only a few farmers have received compensation so far.

  • Progress is better towards Danapur than Bihta.

  • Officials are pushing for timely completion, but challenges remain.
