It has been discovered that the principal of Jahangirpur Upgraded High School in Jehanabad, Bihar, is involved in selling government books, meant for distribution among students, as scrap. Protest and Investigation
When the villagers noticed the government books being sold, they protested against it. This angered the principal, who then faced complaints from the villagers. Department Officials Step In
Following the DM’s instructions, officials from the Education Department, including DPO Anand Kumar and BEO Sarvjeet, visited the school to investigate the matter. They gathered information from the principal and the villagers and inspected the books. They found several bags containing books from different classes, including NCERT and Samagra Shiksha books.
Principal’s Clarification and Action to be Taken
The school principal, Ram Prasad, provided a clarification stating that he had instructed the teacher to sell old items in the school, but the teacher went beyond that and sold the books and notebooks as well. The scrap dealer paid Rs. 4200 for the items. The Education Department has sought further clarification from the principal, and if a satisfactory response is not received, action will be taken against him.
