Big updates are coming for Bihar as the government gears up for elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet has given a green light to important infrastructure projects in the state. These projects include the Bakhtiyarpur-Rajgir-Tilaiya railway line and the four-laning of the Sahebganj-Betia National Highway.
The Sahebganj-Betia NH-139W project will expand the road into four lanes over a distance of about 79 kilometers. This development will be funded under the Hybrid Annuity Model, with an estimated cost of around Rs 3,822.31 crore. It aims to enhance the travel experience on this busy route.
With the new road design, vehicles can travel at speeds up to 100 km/h, reducing the journey time from Sahebganj to Bettiah from 2.5 hours to just 1 hour. This project is expected to create significant job opportunities, providing direct employment for about 14.22 lakh people.
Additionally, the Bakhtiyarpur-Rajgir-Tilaiya railway line is set to change from a single to a double line, covering 104 kilometers. This upgrade will facilitate better rail connectivity to important religious sites and help in transporting goods efficiently. It will benefit around 1,434 villages and a population of 13.46 lakh.
These projects will not only boost the local economy but also improve tourism, making access to key attractions easier. The initiatives are seen as a major step forward for Bihar’s development, especially with elections approaching.
