Bihar’s Nitish Kumar Unveils Bansghat Connectivity Road, Promising Improved Access to JP Ganga Path by February 2027

On August 24, 2025, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a major step in improving roads and connectivity in Bihar. He laid the foundation stone for the Bansghat Connectivity Road, which aims to enhance access to the JP Ganga Path directly from Bansghat. This new road will be 600 meters long and is expected to be completed by February 2027.

The construction of this road is set to cost around Rs 52.28 crore. The government believes this project will help ease the notorious traffic jams in Patna, which have been a major concern for residents. The design of the road includes smart features to ensure smooth traffic flow.

For those traveling from Bansghat, the plan involves taking a U-turn and then heading directly to the Ganga Path. Similarly, vehicles coming back from the Ganga Path will connect to the new road being built over the Mandiri drain. This design is expected to significantly improve the traffic situation in the city.

Additionally, a 1289-meter-long road from Income Tax Golambar to Bansghat is also nearing completion. Built at a cost of Rs 86.98 crore, this road will feature a twin barrel RCC box drain underneath for easy cleaning and maintenance. The work on the divider and service drains is almost finished.

The total investment for this infrastructure project is around Rs 139 crore. While the ruling party calls it a significant step towards development, the opposition views it as a tactic ahead of elections. Regardless, if completed on time, these roads could greatly improve the traffic conditions in Patna.
