This article discusses the significant improvements in rural road connectivity in Bihar, highlighting government efforts to enhance development in rural areas.

Bihar is seeing a big change in its rural roads, which are essential for improving life in villages. The state’s Rural Affairs Minister, Dr. Ashok Chaudhary, mentioned that in the last 20 years, Bihar has built an impressive network of rural roads. This not only makes travel easier from villages to cities but also connects villages to each other.

The government is focusing on upgrading these roads as part of the Saat Nishchay-3 program. This includes making rural roads two-lane to improve access to block and district headquarters. The aim is to connect important roads to state and national highways, ensuring better connectivity for everyone.

These new roads have made it much easier for farmers to sell their crops and for villagers to access schools, hospitals, and markets. With over one lakh villages now connected by nearly 120,000 kilometers of all-weather roads, the quality of life in rural areas is improving significantly.

In addition to roads, the state is also working on building bridges. A plan has been approved to construct 909 bridges over the next two years, with work already starting on 670 of them. This will further enhance the connectivity in rural areas, making travel even smoother.

Looking ahead, the government is committed to maintaining this road network through a new Rural Road Strengthening and Management Program. This initiative aims to protect and sustain the roads built, ensuring that they remain in good condition for years to come.
