In Patna, the Transport Department is making great progress in issuing driving licenses (DL) and vehicle registration certificates (RC). Every day, around 1,841 DLs and 3,731 RCs are being issued across the state. This news was shared by Shravan Kumar, the Transport and Rural Development Minister, during an event at the District Transport Office.
The minister highlighted that the backlog of DL and RC applications was a significant challenge affecting many people, especially the youth and job seekers. To tackle this, the department worked actively, using special monitoring and campaigns that are now showing good results. He also mentioned that a Road Safety Month will be celebrated from January 1 to March 31 to raise awareness among school students.
For the public, this means that getting a DL or RC will now be quicker and easier. The department plans to ensure that services remain timely, which will help drivers of taxis, autos, and e-rickshaws. Additionally, it will make it easier for individuals to access insurance and compensation in case of accidents.
In just one month, the department has issued over 3 lakh RCs, reducing the pending cases significantly. Previously, there were more than 1 lakh RC applications pending, but now only about 30,000 are left. Similarly, for driving licenses, the number of pending applications has also dropped, showing the department’s commitment to improving services.
Looking ahead, the Transport Department aims to keep this momentum going. They will ensure that no applications remain pending in the future.
