BJP has launched “Mission Yadav” in Bihar as part of its strategy to target the opposition party RJD. The party is preparing to give a tough fight to RJD by gaining support from the Yadav community, which is considered to be the strongest vote bank for RJD. BJP is already working on gaining support from marginalized and upper caste communities to secure the 40 seats in Bihar in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Now, it is focusing on making inroads into the Muslim-Yadav (M-Y) vote bank, which is the strongest vote bank for RJD.
As part of its strategy, BJP has organized a program in Patna featuring Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who will address the Yadav community on January 17. This move is seen as a challenge to RJD’s strategy. BJP claims that it works on the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” (Together with all, development for all) and can make anyone from any community the Chief Minister. This has been exemplified by Mohan Yadav in Madhya Pradesh, Bhajan Lal Sharma in Rajasthan, and Vishnudeva Sai in Chhattisgarh. RJD, on the other hand, has dismissed BJP’s strategy as a flop and claims that it has a strong alliance with every section of society.
It is important to note that BJP has been working on its long-term strategy since the release of the caste census survey report in Bihar. According to the report, the Yadav community constitutes 14.26% of Bihar’s population, with a total population of 1,86,50,119. BJP understands the significance of this vote bank and is moving ahead with its plans accordingly. The party aims to challenge RJD’s stronghold on the Yadav community and present a better alternative for them.
