Police Action on NH-27 as per SP’s Instructions
In Gopalganj, Bihar, the police have arrested four cattle smugglers involved in trafficking endangered species of camels from Rajasthan. Additionally, 19 camels were seized from a container, with a value of over 30 lakh rupees. Under the direction of SP Swarn Prabhat, DSP Sandeep Kumar’s team conducted an operation on NH-27 near Arar Mod in the city police station area. The smugglers were planning to transport all the camels to Muzaffarpur for further distribution.
Identification of Arrested Smugglers
The arrested cattle smugglers have been identified as Junaid Khan from Mathura, Shahnavaz and Junaid Khan from Nuh Meoat in Haryana, and Sahil. Upon interrogation, the smugglers revealed that they were trafficking all the camels from Rajasthan to Muzaffarpur, where they were supposed to be supplied to other cities. This is the first time such a large number of camels have been seized by the Gopalganj police.
Continued Crackdown on Animal Trafficking
SP Swarn Prabhat stated that the police are conducting continuous campaigns against cattle smugglers. In previous actions, the police seized 141 buffaloes from five containers in Bakuntpur, 19 buffaloes from a container in Kateya Thana area, and 19 buffaloes from a container in the city police station area. Investigations are also underway to determine how the cattle traffickers managed to pass through the Baltheri checkpoint and why they were not caught at the checkpoint.
