Introduction to Mushroom Cultivation Training in Darbhanga
Central Bank of India, Laheriasarai, has organized a 10-day mushroom cultivation training for 35 youths from various villages and cities of Darbhanga. The training was conducted at the Beladulla Mohalla in Ward No.3. During the training, instructor Pratibha Jha discussed various species of mushrooms, stating that there are approximately 10,000 edible mushroom species worldwide, out of which only 70 are considered suitable for cultivation.
Potential for Mushroom Cultivation in Bihar
In India, Bihar is known for cultivating six major species of mushrooms, including oyster, button, and milky mushrooms. Instructor Pratibha Jha emphasized that young individuals can contribute significantly to the nation’s development by engaging in part-time or full-time mushroom cultivation at their own homes. Apart from being used in culinary dishes, mushrooms are also known for their medicinal properties, providing relief from back pain, joint pain, and acting as an aid in fighting cancer due to the presence of selenium. Mushrooms are rich in beneficial vitamins, minerals, and fiber, which are essential for our health.
Advantages of Mushroom Cultivation in Limited Spaces
According to R.N. Chaurasia, mushroom cultivation can be highly profitable in limited spaces with low investment, less water requirement, and minimal time. It serves as a better means of earning higher income, as the market value of mushrooms is significantly high. Proper training is essential for achieving better production and official profit. Chaurasia mentioned that there is a growing inclination towards mushroom cultivation among people, and its demand is rapidly increasing. Mushrooms are used in various forms such as vegetables, powders, pickles, biscuits, noodles, sauces, desserts, and snacks, making it a versatile and widely consumed food item.
