Chaiti Chhath 2024 Begins in Patna
Chaiti Chhath, a four-day festival, is starting today in Patna. This grand festival is celebrated twice a year, once in the month of Chaitra and then in Kartik. The festival begins on the fourth day of the waxing phase of Chaitra and ends by offering arghya to the rising sun on Saptami. While the importance of this festival remains the same whether it is celebrated in Chaitra or Kartik, performing Chhath in Chaitra is considered challenging.
Significance of Chaiti Chhath in Patna
According to renowned astrologer Dr. Shripati Tripathi from Patna, worshipping the Sun God, Bhaskar, holds equal significance in both Chaitra and Kartik. However, fasting without water during the extreme heat of Chaitra is considered as challenging as severe penance. Chaiti Chhath is considered equivalent to rigorous penance due to the extreme conditions during the month.
Importance of Chaiti Chhath in Patna
Chaiti Chhath, celebrated during the peak of summer, holds a special place as it is considered equivalent to worshipping the Sun God on the first day of creation according to Hindu mythology. The fasting without water for 36 hours during the scorching heat of Chaitra is considered as challenging as severe penance. While Kartik Chhath is less challenging due to the cooler weather, Chaiti Chhath is believed to be more difficult, leading to fewer people observing it in Patna.
