Chhath Puja Celebrations in Patna

Today marks the third day of the four-day Chhath Mahaparv, a festival celebrating the sun god. Devotees will worship and offer arghya to Lord Bhaskar during the evening, with the festival concluding tomorrow as devotees offer arghya to the rising sun. The Patna Municipal Corporation has prepared Chhath ghats for the devotees and ensured proper arrangements with barricading for the celebrations.

Preparations and Security Measures

The district administration has assessed the ghats by Saturday evening and made necessary preparations for the large crowds. Chhath is celebrated twice a year, with the second Chhath falling in October-November in the Hindi month of Kartik. In Patna, a survey of approximately 108 ghats has been conducted from Didarganj to Danapur, including dangerous ghats like Haldi Chapra Ghat, Janardan Ghat, Koel Ghat, Loharwa Ghat, and Sita Ghat, which are restricted for access.

Well-Prepared Ghats for Devotees

Ghats like Nasriganj, Shiva Ghat, Patlipul Ghat, JP Purvi Ghat, Deigha Ghat, Raja Purpul Ghat, Bansghat, Collectorate-Mahendru Ghat, Kali Ghat, NIT Ghat, Gay Ghat, and Kanganghat Ganga Ghat have been fully prepared for the devotees with barricading and parking arrangements. Special arrangements are being made at ghats with sandy banks to accommodate a larger number of devotees. Deigha, Collectorate, and Mahendru Ghats have flat water surfaces, and special provisions are being made for devotees at sandy ghats to manage the expected higher footfall.
