Champai Soren will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand today. Governor CP Radhakrishnan has invited Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Champai Soren to form the government. MLA Alamgir Alam stated that they would have to prove their majority in the assembly within the next 10 days. It should be noted that Soren claims to have the support of 43 MLAs and has shown a video of support from all the MLAs to the Governor.
Meeting with the Governor
Champai Soren had met with the Governor a day before as well, during which he had presented his claim to form the government. However, at that time, the Governor did not give him a formal invitation. The Governor had stated that the process will start soon. Champai had said after the meeting that they have requested the Governor to start the process of forming a new government. The Governor has assured us that the process will start soon. Currently, we have submitted the report. We have no problem in forming the government. Our coalition is very strong.
Attempts to break away MLAs
According to reports, there may be attempts to break away MLAs after CM Hemant Soren’s resignation. There are reports of preparations to send MLAs from Jharkhand to a safe place to protect them from BJP’s temptations. According to sources, BJP is eyeing Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLAs along with JMM MLAs in the coalition. There are plans to send MLAs from the coalition to a safe place outside Jharkhand to protect them from the party’s temptations.

According to media reports, two charter planes are ready at the airport for the MLAs.
