Technological Advancements in Agriculture
The era of change in the agricultural sector is ongoing, with technology-based farming proving to be a boon for farmers. Not only is the production level of crops increasing, but farmers are also seeing higher profits. Previously, the application of fertilizers and pesticides on crops was a major issue for farmers. However, with the use of drones, this problem has been resolved in Vaishali district. Farmers can now spray pesticides or fertilizers through drones, saving time and reducing wastage.
Implementation of Drone Technology in Vaishali District
Assistant Director of Plant Protection Ajit Kumar Sharan revealed that the agriculture department’s plan is for farmers to spray drones on crops like pulses and wheat. Farmers will have to apply online on the Plant Protection Department’s portal to use drones for spraying crops. After registration, the application goes to the coordinator’s login, where officials verify the documents and send them to the Plant Protection Director’s ID. Once the department is satisfied, selected drone operators are provided with the necessary information and numbers at the state level.
Government Grants and Benefits for Farmers
Sharan also mentioned that the government provides grants to assist farmers. The entire team is always active to help farmers. After gathering information, the drone service provider and farmer decide on a schedule. The cost of spraying per acre through drones is Rs. 480, with farmers paying Rs. 240 and the government covering the rest. The government also provides a subsidy of Rs. 240. By using drones for spraying, farmers save time and accomplish more work in less time, ultimately benefiting from the technological advancements in agriculture.
