# Changing Trends in Agriculture: Cash Crop Farming on the Rise

Traditional farming practices are gradually being replaced by cash crop farming, leading to increased income for farmers. Progressive farmers are now earning substantial profits through commercial farming, establishing a separate identity in society. This shift in farming practices has led to an increase in the cultivation of cash crops such as eggs and meat, which are considered good sources of protein and are also used as a weapon against malnutrition. Farmers like Rajesh Kumar Singh from Begusarai have made duck farming their source of income, earning significant profits from the sale of duck eggs.

# Rajesh Kumar Singh: A Successful Duck Farmer

Rajesh Kumar Singh, a resident of Ward No. 10 in Amba, located on the border of Gadhpora block, Begusarai district, has made duck farming a profitable venture. Starting with 1,000 ducks in 15 acres of land, Rajesh has achieved rapid growth in his business. He now produces 6,000 eggs daily, which are sold in the market. The daily expenses for feed and labor amount to 2,000 rupees, while the profits are substantial. This change in farming practices has allowed Rajesh to establish a new identity for himself, after losing an election as a representative.

# Artificial Ponds for Duck Farming

Rajesh Kumar Singh also engages in the farming of Kadaknath chickens, earning a daily income of 2,000 rupees by selling their eggs and meat. Along with this, he has provided employment to two individuals in his business. Rajesh emphasizes the importance of having a water source nearby for duck farming, where ducks can easily reproduce and navigate. Farmers can also consider creating artificial ponds for duck farming.
