After the celebration of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar went to meet Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Raj Bhavan, which caused a political uproar. All political parties were speculating about the reason behind this meeting. BJP even claimed that Nitish Kumar succumbed to pressure from Lalu Prasad Yadav and that’s why he went to meet the Governor. However, the speculations have been put to rest now.
The meeting was regarding the appointment of Vice-Chancellors. It was pre-decided that the Chief Minister, along with Finance Minister Vijay Chaudhary and his Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, would discuss the appointment of Vice-Chancellors with the Governor. The meeting lasted for 40 minutes and they discussed the appointment of Vice-Chancellors in Bihar’s universities.
After the meeting, it was revealed that six new Vice-Chancellors have been appointed in Bihar’s universities. Prof. Pramendra Kumar Bajpai has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of JP University (Chhapra), Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai in BR Ambedkar University (Muzaffarpur), Prof. Sanjay Kumar Choudhary in Lalit Narayan Mithila University (Darbhanga), Prof. Lakshmi Nivas Pandey in Darbhanga Sanskrit University, Prof. Vimlendu Shekhar Jha in BN Mandal University (Madhepura), and Prof. Sharad Kumar Yadav in Aryabhatta Knowledge University. Their term will be for three years.
Out of the six appointed Vice-Chancellors, four are currently working outside Bihar. Prof. Lakshmi Nivasi Pandey is a professor at the Central Sanskrit University in Mumbai, Prof. Pramendra Kumar Bajpai is a professor at Guru Ghasidas Central University in Bilaspur, Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai is a professor at Banaras Hindu University, and Prof. Sharad Kumar Yadav is a professor at Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Veterinary University in Mathura.
नीतीश कुमार और राज्यपाल राजेंद्र विश्वनाथ अर्लेकर की मुलाकात के बाद बिहार के छह विश्वविद्यालयों में नए कुलपतियों की नियुक्ति की गई है। इनमें से चार कुलपति बाहर के राज्य में कार्यरत हैं। इस मुलाकात में विश्वविद्यालयों की कार्यकारिणी पर चर्चा भी हुई। यह नये कुलपतियों का कार्यकाल तीन साल का होगा।
